Ninja Master Prep: Karate Chop in the Kitchen
It’s baffling how many blenders one person can accumulate over a lifetime.
It’s even more baffling how many of those blenders actually work properly. I had the privilege to get
my hands on the Euro-Pro Ninja Master Prep Blender and test it at home over a week-long period. From smoothies to salsa, and even processing the perfect chicken salad, the infomercial promises the world within the a little blue motor head called, “The Ninja.”
my hands on the Euro-Pro Ninja Master Prep Blender and test it at home over a week-long period. From smoothies to salsa, and even processing the perfect chicken salad, the infomercial promises the world within the a little blue motor head called, “The Ninja.”I’ll be honest, the more I saw this product the more I wanted it. Picture this: Your average blender has blades on the very bottom of pitcher. What happens is that you constantly have to shake your contents down to those blades for it to slice and dice, blend and mix, puree and frappe! It’s a pain, and it stresses the motor underneath your pitcher. The reason I hopped on the Ninja train is because it has dual blades – one in the middle of the pitcher (from top to bottom) and at the traditional base. Not only that, but the center rod moves up and down, blending pretty much anything you would mix in a conventional blender. The technology was simple but original. I’m surprised I didn’t think of this.
It’s like a plastic bombshell flavor-maker
I opened up the box and to my surprise, other than the Ninja blades, the entire thing was made of plastic. Firs impression – the pitcher and food processor, as well as the air tight Ninja insert lids were made of very durable polycarbonate. I read the directions as I started dumping freshly cut strawberries, one chilled banana, fat free vanilla yogurt, and a cup of ice into the pitcher. After placing the Ninja motor head on the pitcher a gave it three, five second pulses. It wasn’t exactly the quietest of blenders but I did have the creamiest, most consistent smoothie I’ve had in a long time. It sounds as though I work for this company but I’m glad to say this is the first blender I’ve even looked twice at in my lifetime (and I’ve seen a lot of blenders… but only once).
Spill the Beans
The pitcher itself has a flip top spout so you can safely pour without having to take the lid off. The drawback to this is that the way the spout is made, the contents always will spill over the front of the pitcher. Maybe I wasn’t using it right (I’m always a cautious pour-er), but that was something I definitely had a problem with.
Snow!
Yes, folks this Ninja Blender makes creamy, feathery snow. Simply put in a couple cups of ice cubes and give it a go. Snow cones, Italian ice, anything you can think of what to do with snow, the sky’s the limit. My father-in-law loves to eat snow and cranberry juice, so this was perfect for him to eat.
The food processor that comes with the Ninja Master Prep is a perfect size for any type of vegetable or fruit you want to put in your salad. I’ve even made salsa and chopped up a half head of lettuce with a couple pulses. When it comes to prep cooking, this Ninja blender is exactly what I’ve been looking for. Sure, I can show off for the ladies and chop up organic carrots on a weathered butcher block while drinking a glass of 19th century merlot, but why? Even if I added ambiance by the light of flickering candles that had an aroma of May apples, I still couldn’t compete with the sheer power of a Ninja.
All is well that ends well
Is this a product for anyone? Absolutely. Whether you are a kitchen master or Joe Schmoe, the Ninja is easy to use right out of the box. The thin recipe book is just enough to get your brain juices flowing on how to add more creations to your repertoire. The more you use it, the more you’ll want to tell your friends. I still can’t believe I’m boasting about a blender, but I guess it comes with the business.
Euro Pro is currently running infomercials, but I don’t think it’s getting as much attention than what I’m leading on.
